Day Of Surgery

Bathing: Please bathe or shower prior to your surgery. Do not use lotions or oils after bathing.

Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as sweat suits and easy-to-button shirts or blouses that are big enough to accommodate a large bandage after surgery. Wear comfortable shoes – not high heels please.

Valuables: Leave all valuables - including jewelry and cash - at home. We cannot be responsible for damaged or lost property.

Medication: Bring a list of all your regular medications and their prescribed doses (our medication form is available on this site do fill out ahead of time if you’d like). This should include non prescriptions medications as well.

Consents: Be prepared to sign a form giving your consent for the operation. Patients who are under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian available to accompany them and to sign the consent form.

Arrival Time: Please arrive promptly at the prearranged time you received when our preoperative nurse spoke with you. Click here to view a map to our facilities.

Preoperative Routine: A nurse or assistant will provide you with a patient gown, slippers and a bag to store your clothing. We will also check your temperature, blood pressure and pulse, and ask if you need to empty your bladder before surgery.

Family: Your family (one member at a time) can stay with you until the team is ready to take you to the operating room, then they will be taken to the waiting room. Your physician will speak with your family immediately following the surgery.

Waiting: Patients under the age of 18 and/or who unable to sign for themselves must have a parent or legal guardian remain in the facility during the course of the patient’s care.
